Gunskirchen, Austria, September 25, 2024BRP-Rotax has officially opened the state-of-the-art BRP Training Institute (BRPTI) in Gunskirchen, Austria. The BRPTI sets new standards in the technical training of service technicians from BRP and BRP-Rotax’s dealer and distribution network. A key highlight: the BRPTI Gunskirchen is the first BRP training center to offer training for electric vehicles (EV) in Europe.

The BRPTI in Gunskirchen is one of five training centers worldwide (Canada, USA, Austria and Sweden) for service technicians from the BRP dealer and distribution network, where experienced instructors provide technical training for the entire BRP product portfolio. Additionally, the focus is on training and certification for Rotax kart and aircraft engines. The training programs range from basic courses to specialized advanced training and are offered in various languages to best meet the needs of the participants.
The strategic location of the BRPTI at BRP-Rotax in Gunskirchen, Austria, the heart of BRP’s powertrain development and production, enables exclusive insights into production for the participants and facilitates the direct use of parts and tools in training sessions. This maximizes the practical relevance of the training and ensures that participants' knowledge is optimally prepared for real-world workshop requirements.

Embedded in the RIC (Regional Innovation Center) – the innovation and education center of BRP-Rotax –, the BRPTI is the perfect complement for RIC’s Managing Director Martin Riedelsberger : "The BRPTI’s initial focus on aircraft and electrification exemplifies BRP's innovative strength. Together, we promote hands-on training, drive innovation and create synergies for the future."

In its first year, the BRPTI plans to train around 100 BRP service technicians from across Europe. Additionally, service technicians from 13 Rotax Aircraft Engines distribution partners will be trained.

High-Tech Learning Environment Focused on Practice and Interactive Learning
The BRPTI offers training participants optimal conditions to deepen their knowledge and perfect their skills. Spanning approx. 200 m², the institute offers a high-tech learning environment with an attractive atmosphere that reflects the premium brands of BRP and Rotax.

Fully equipped with simulation stations, mechatronic systems, the latest diagnostic tools and powersports vehicles and engines, the BRPTI focuses on practical training that fosters a deep understanding of BRP products and Rotax powertrains. Extended reality (XR) technologies like virtual and augmented reality create an even more immersive learning experience. This not only makes learning more intuitive and safer but also enhances the understanding of complex systems.

Electrification as a Central Element of the Training Program
As the first BRP training institute in Europe the BRPTI Gunskirchen offers specialized training for BRP’s electric vehicles. Recently, the company introduced its new electric motorcycles, the Can-Am Pulse and Can-Am Origin, to the public.

Andreas Bangerl, Manager After Sales Service & Spare Parts Management,  who will lead the BRPTI, emphasizes the importance of EV training: “The specific requirements and safety protocols of electric vehicles demand new expertise – and that’s exactly what we provide here. Our training allows participants to fully harness the advantages of electrification, advise consumers better, and expand their skills in this forward-looking field. In doing so, we are securing the next generation of skilled workers with these critical, in-demand qualifications.

New Era in Technical Training
The opening ceremony of the BRPTI on September 19, attended by the executives and leadership team of BRP-Rotax as well as guests from BRP International, marks the beginning of a new era in technical training.
Wolfgang Rapberger, General Manager of BRP-Rotax and VP Global Sourcing & Operations Powertrain, states: “The opening of the BRPTI marks another strong statement for the Gunskirchen site, which is recognized within the group as a place of innovation. Here, with cutting-edge methods, technicians will be trained to become experts who make a significant contribution to BRP’s global service network.”
